HVAC INSTALL TECHNICIAN

Responsible for the installation, replacement, and commissioning of residential and light commercial heating, cooling, and ventilation systems in accordance with manufacturer specifications, applicable codes, and Connecticut licensing requirements. This role works as part of a two-person (or larger) installation team, collaborating closely with installation teammates, field supervisors, and sales teams to ensure systems are installed accurately, safely, and in alignment with customer expectations. The technician takes ownership of assigned installation tasks, prioritizes jobsite safety, documents completed work, and represents Gault Energy & Home Solutions as a brand ambassador in customers’ homes and businesses.
JOB SUMMARY:
Install and replace residential and light commercial HVAC systems and components, including furnaces, boilers, hydronic systems, heat pumps, central A/C systems, ductless equipment, air handlers, rooftop or split systems (as applicable), and related accessories.
Install and connect refrigerant piping, condensate drainage, venting, combustion air, electrical connections, controls, and thermostats in compliance with applicable codes and safety standards.
Perform proper evacuation, charging, and start-up procedures; verify system operation, airflow, refrigerant levels, and control functionality at completion of installation.
Follow manufacturer commissioning procedures to ensure equipment is installed, configured, and operating as intended.
Interpret installation plans, job specifications, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer installation manuals to complete installations accurately.
Work collaboratively as part of an installation team, communicating effectively with teammates, field supervisors, and sales teams to support efficient workflow and accurate execution of the scope of work.
Identify and communicate installation challenges, safety concerns, or scope changes to field supervisors and sales teams to support timely resolution and customer satisfaction.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite, protecting customer property and maintaining professional workmanship standards.
Complete installation documentation, checklists, start-up forms, and job notes accurately and in a timely manner using company systems.
Follow all company safety policies, OSHA guidelines, and best practices, including ladder safety, electrical safety, rigging and lifting techniques, confined-space awareness, and proper handling of hazardous materials.
Support workforce development by assisting with apprentice training, ride-alongs, and job shadows, modeling safe work habits, teamwork, and technical standards.
Miscellaneous duties as required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strong technical knowledge of residential and light commercial HVAC equipment, installation methods, and system configuration.
Solid understanding of HVAC safety practices, including electrical safety, refrigerant handling, combustion venting, and equipment startup procedures.
Ability to read and interpret installation drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and manufacturer installation manuals.
Strong teamwork and collaboration skills within a crew-based work environment.
Demonstrates ownership and accountability for quality workmanship, jobsite safety, and installation outcomes.
Ability to follow directions from lead installers and supervisors while contributing effectively as part of a team.
Proficient with mobile devices, installation documentation, and basic service software.
Serves as a positive safety role model and mentor for apprentices and job shadows.

COMPETENCIES:
Current B, D, or S state license
Current EPA license
Valid driver’s license
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing, twisting, lifting, and pulling of parts and equipment. Must have the ability to lift and/or move items up to 100 pounds. The position requires employees to regularly talk and hear.
