Responsible for performing residential electrical service, troubleshooting, repairs, upgrades, and installations in accordance with the Connecticut State Electrical Code and the National Electrical Code (NEC). This role requires a strong technical skill set, safe work practices, and professional customer communication. The electrician will independently diagnose electrical issues, execute compliant solutions, prepare estimates, document work performed, and collect payment while serving as a brand ambassador for Gault Family Companies, ensuring every customer interaction reflects the company’s values, professionalism, and service standards.

JOB SUMMARY:



  • Install, service, maintain, and repair residential electrical systems, including branch circuits, feeders, service equipment, panels, subpanels, grounding and bonding systems, lighting, switches, receptacles, and control devices.

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults such as voltage drops, overloaded circuits, improper grounding, damaged conductors, faulty devices, and code deficiencies in residential settings.

  • Perform electrical inspections and testing using appropriate diagnostic tools (multimeters, circuit testers, voltage testers, etc.) to verify system safety, performance, and code compliance.

  • Ensure all electrical work complies with the National Electrical Code (NEC), Connecticut State Electrical Code, local AHJ requirements, and company safety standards.

  • Perform residential generator installations, including transfer switches, grounding and bonding, load calculations, coordination with fuel sources, and operational testing in compliance with applicable codes.

  • Identify non-compliant or unsafe electrical conditions and clearly communicate findings, corrective actions, and upgrade recommendations to customers.

  • Prepare accurate service documentation, including service reports, time logs, materials used, estimates, and job notes using company systems.

  • Provide professional, clear, and courteous communication with customers regarding the scope of work, safety concerns, pricing, timelines, and completed work.

  • Supervise, mentor, and provide technical guidance to apprentices or helpers as assigned, ensuring safe work practices and proper task execution.

  • Collaborate with dispatch, operations, and fellow technicians to complete work efficiently and meet customer and business needs.

  • Maintain service vehicle stock, tools, materials, and inventory in an organized, safe, and job-ready condition.

  • Remain available during peak demand periods and perform additional hours as required to support operational needs.

  • Miscellaneous electrical work in customers’ homes as needed.

  • Miscellaneous duties as required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

COMPETENCIES:

  • Thorough working knowledge of residential electrical systems, wiring methods, overcurrent protection, grounding and bonding, and load calculations.

  • Strong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and Connecticut electrical regulations applicable to residential service work.

  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply electrical blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.

  • Proficient with service documentation systems, mobile devices, and basic computer applications.

  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Ability to work independently while maintaining productivity, quality, and safety standards.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in residential electrical service.

  • Current E-2 or E-1 electrician license.

  • Valid driver’s license

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing, twisting, lifting, and pulling of parts and equipment.  Must have the ability to lift and/or move items up to 85 pounds. The position requires employees to regularly talk and hear.
