Accounting Coordinator

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Accounting Coordinator is responsible for supporting the accounting department by managing day-to-day financial transactions for both accounts payable and accounts receivable, maintaining accurate records, preparing timely analyses and ensuring compliance with departmental processes. They are a liaison between various departments, customers, vendors and the accounting team. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, independent follow-up skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced highly transactional environment.
Record and process Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable transactions.
Receive, obtain approval and process vendor invoices and credit memos.
Post customer payments, recording cash, checks and credit card activity to customer accounts.
Posting of other miscellaneous bank items.
Sending out customer invoices daily and statements monthly.
Resolve customer billing issues and follow up on outstanding invoices.
Maintain vendor accounts and review for accuracy; reconcile vendor statements and onboard new vendors.
Generate check runs, enter and initiate ACH and Web payments.
Perform monthly reconciliations of bank and general ledger accounts.
Act as a point of contact for vendors, customers and internal teams regarding financial inquiries.
Prepare ad hoc reports for management and analyses
Back up support for other accounting functions
Miscellaneous duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field preferred; an associate degree with relevant experience may be acceptable
1-3 years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping
Strong organization and data analysis skills
Ability to work independently in a high-volume environment
Intermediate Excel skills
Proficiency in Great Plains (or similar software) and QuickBooks Online
Must be highly organized, detail oriented, analytical, self-motivated
Effective communication and collaboration skills
Ability to interact with employees, customers and vendors in a professional manner
Strong work ethic
